Easy Empanadas

17 Feb

Ok, here is an easy and quick way to make guava empanadas.  I must warn you that because it is so easy and they are so delicious you have to be careful about how many you consume.

Only 3 ingredients are needed:

  1. guava paste-which can be found in the ethnic aisle of your grocery store
  2. cream cheese
  3. a can of ready bake biscuits or crescent rolls

First you want to flatten out a biscuit.

Next add a slice of cream cheese.

Next add a slice of the guava paste.

Then you fold up the dough.  I do it haphazardly and they are not in the typical empanada shape.

Now they are ready for the oven.  Follow the directions on the biscuit/crescent roll can to determine the temperature and time you have to bake yours for.  The biscuits I use are from Aldi’s and bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.

After only 12 minutes you have warm, yummy guava empanadas!  Try not to devour them all at once.

Guava paste is also an epic appetizer if you cut it into equal cubes to very sharp cheddar and put them on toothpicks. Try try try it.
